Coffee colour sorter: green and roasted bean sorters
A coffee colour sorter removes black, sour, insect-damaged and immature beans, husk and stones from green coffee, and uneven or burnt beans after roasting. Bühler, Satake, Meyer and Anysort build coffee sorters; Satake's PIKASEN FMS2000-F handles up to about 1.8 t/hr on a 240 mm chute.

Questions people ask
Can the same sorter do green and roasted coffee?
Usually yes with different settings, but roasted coffee is dark and needs good cameras; dedicated roasted-bean programmes help.
Do coffee sorters use infrared?
Many do: infrared helps find stones, sticks and some internal defects that look the same colour as a good bean.
Who uses coffee sorters in India?
Curing works and exporters in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu sort green coffee before export; roasters sort after roasting.
