Questions people ask
What does a nut sorter detect?
Colour defects, mould, shrivelled and broken kernels, shell pieces, stones and, on infrared and X-ray models, some foreign material that looks like the nut. AI models also judge shape.
Peanut sorter or general nut sorter?
Peanuts are small and free-flowing, so chute sorters work well. Almonds, walnuts and mixed nuts are often sorted on belt sorters, which handle larger, irregular pieces gently.
Which makers build nut sorters?
TOMRA, Key Technology, Bühler, Satake, Meyer, Anysort, AMD and Taiho, and several Indian makers.
